I don't know what made me think about this, but today I got to thinking about how in 2nd and 3rd grade I was forced to learn cursive in school for some reason. It didn't make a whole lot of sense because a lot of the kids couldn't even tell time yet, and I don't think making them learn a whole other writing system was that smart. But anyways, I looked up "cursive" on wikipedia, so here is the article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cursive
It certainly brought back memories. Well not that many, just mostly the one where the class had to write a bunch of really long strange random words in cursive and turn them in before they could go down to the cafeteria for lunch. I had difficulty with cursive (mostly I blame the way it was taught to me for example "m in cursive is three humps instead of two" wtf does that even mean? Plus its not really. So anyways I remember like all the other kids had left to go to lunch and I was really hungry, but I couldn't go because I was still writing the word "tyrannosaurus rex". Cursive wasn't so much the problem here, but that I had -no- idea how to spell the word to begin with. But I felt embarrassed and hungry all the same. I guess thats sorta when I started hating most teachers more than I already did since the teacher was giving me a hard time about it.
So anyways, long story short, did anyone who reads this have to learn cursive in school? I guess I ask because this girl I was teaching Japanese to who was from Germany and had learned English there in school had no idea what I was talking about when I was trying to show/talk to her about cursive. Then she said it was sorta taught in English history language classes for more advanced students. So again, anyways, was everyone else taught cursive too?

We were talking about what I should do because a stupid supervisor was in my lab and looked to be planning on hanging around and I didn't want to have to walk with him when the lab closed (because I hate him :D)
cybervipe (4:44:03 PM): and then take the keys back lcykitten (4:44:11 PM): yeah I planned on doing that cybervipe (4:44:30 PM): yes, talking becomes less and less necessary for us lcykitten (4:44:36 PM): lol lcykitten (4:44:39 PM): aw don't say that lcykitten (4:44:43 PM): I like talking to you lcykitten (4:44:50 PM): its like talking to myself but I don't look as crazy cybervipe (4:45:05 PM): heh

Telecom granted immunity
a section: The two sides reached a compromise, whereby telephone companies would not be automatically immune, but courts would be obliged to dismiss a suit against a firm if it is able to produce written certification that the White House asked it to participate in the program and assured the firm it was legal.
I guess there is a monarch now.. and Bush gets to say what is and isn't legal.. and now his monarchy is legal.
